anonymouscuban > Day #24 - Sunset at Griffith Observatory

This is the view from Griffith Observatory within minutes of Sunset. I tried to capture the beautiful view of Los Angeles but also the clean lines of the building. What caught my eye were the streets converging on the horizon and pinkish glow on the horizon.
anonymouscuban > Day #23 - Stormy Bay in Sausilito

This is during a stormy day in Sausilito CA; a nice little city on the other side of the Golden Gate Bridge.

I desaturated the colors a bit to add to the mood of the image. I almost went black & white but I think the hint of colors really hit the mark. What do you think?
anonymouscuban > Day #22 - Jellies

Jelly fish exhibit at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. Awesome place. This was by far my favorite exhibit. I could sit and stare at these things for hours. Very mesmerizing.

Difficult shot to get though. I had my Tokina 11-16mm wide open at f/2.8. Still had to crank up the ISO to 3200 in order to get a fast enough shutter speed to eliminate blur. A little noisy but not too bad don't you think?
anonymouscuban > Day #21 - Mission Santa Clara

This is the inside of the church at the historic Santa Clara Mission. There are 21 Missions in California. My wife and I have visited 7 of them so far. Eeach has something uniquely beautiful.

The bright colors, beautiful chandeliers and the use of individuals made this Mission unique from the others we saw. The grounds of the Mission were also very beautiful.
anonymouscuban > Day #20 - Cutting Edge Research

OK... Maybe not cutting edge and probably not research... but the guy was pretty wasted and it wasn't even 3PM yet so I think his search for funds is going well.

By the way, if you ever visit San Francisco, be prepared to see a lot of these guys. Along with the guys that paint themselves silver and pretend to be robots.
anonymouscuban > Day #19 - Miniscule

This is another shot of Morro Rock. I tried to capture the enormity of it by framing it in the center and having the sail boat off to one side. This image reminds me how small we really are in the grand perspective. The older I get, the more I appreciate the beauty of stuff like this.
anonymouscuban > Day #18 - Not so Deadly Catch

This is a working fishing boat docked at the wharf in Morro Bay, CA. The rock in the background is Morro Rock, where the town get's it's name. She is one of the "Nine Sisters of San Luis Obispo", a series of rock formations that are located along this part of the Central California Coast.

I took this shot in morning light using my newest lens, a Tokina 11-16mm Wide Angle. I had the aperture set at f/16 to get a nice DOF. I really love this lens and I am glad I waited out the backorder of 6 months to get instead of comprimising on a different lens.
anonymouscuban > Day #17 - Oakland Bay Bridge & Downtown San Francisco

Panoramic stitched from 21 images taken from Treasure Island. This is actually a crop of the original. The original spans all the way to the Golden Gate bridge which is on the opposite side of the Bay Bridge. The file was just too large to post here so I cropped it and lower the resoultion.

These series of 21 shots were taken at about 100mm focal length with a 20 second exposure at f/16.0. I set the exposure based on the reflection in the water. I took them with the camera set vertically so I can get as close as possible without having to take two series of shots, one for the top portion and one for the bottom; processing 21 exposures was already quite taxing on my computer. I tried taking these shots on two previous nights that week but the wind made it impossible to get a sharp shot. This was my last night in San Francisco so I was very happy when got to Treasure Island and found absolutely no wind and crystal clear skies. This was my first endeavor into night shooting and long exposures so the two previous nights helped me get some practice.

I did a little post processing to the individual images in Lightroom... adjusted the curves a bit and cleaned up some spots. Then I used PTGui to stitch the images together. I then used Photoshop CS3 to clean up the minor stitch marks and create the final crop.

This image was inspired by Baldy and Andy, a couple of Dgrinners that are making a 6 foot panoramic of the same shot that puts this one to shame.

I plan on printing this image at the highest resolution possible and having it professionally mounted. Should make a nice print for the office.
anonymouscuban > Day #16 - Hiking trail - Point Lobos, CA

I took this shot while hiking a very scenic trail that edges right along side all the coves in Point Lobos. There are several points along the trail where it edges out so you can get a nice view.
anonymouscuban > Day #15 - The Painted Ladies of Alamo Square

Probably one of the most photographed landmarks of San Francisco. Still couldn't help myself... had to give this one a shot while we were there.
anonymouscuban > Day #13 - San Carlos Borromeo de Carmelo Mission - Carmel, CA

HDR treatment using 3 exposures (-2EV, 0EV, +2EV)
anonymouscuban > Day #14 - California Locals

I took this at a popular surf spot in Morro Bay, which is on the Central Coast of California. I got lucky and was able to compose and get this shot off while the surfer was walking buy in the background.
anonymouscuban > Day #12 - Lazy Day in the Sun

Sea lion basking on a pier in Morro Bay, CA.
anonymouscuban > Day #11 - San Carlos Borromeo de Carmelo Mission - Carmel, CA

HDR treatment using 3 exposures (-2EV, 0EV, +2EV)
anonymouscuban > Day #10 - Do you have this in a size 6?

B&W Treatment of this little ladies feet. Taken at the Oakland Zoo during a rainy day.
